Podcast FAQ

What is Podcasting?

Podcasting is delivering audio content to iPods and other portable media players on demand, so that it can be listened to at the user's convenience.  The main benefit of podcasting is that listeners can sync content to their media player and take it with them to listen whenever they want to.  Because podcasts are typically saved in MP3 format, they can also be listened to on nearly any computer.

Why is it called Podcasting?
The name comes from iPod and broadcasting, which has managed to cause confusion because an iPod is not needed to listen to podcasts.

How do I listen to a podcast?

You can either click on the link and listen at your computer or right-click and select 'Save Target As' to download on your PC.  MP3s can be played on your computer using programs like Windows Media Player, Quicktime, or RealPlayer.  MP3 files can also be saved to your portable MP3 or mobile device for listening.

Where can I access the podcast for my class?

Most of the podcasts will be available under your class in Blackboard.

Are MP3 players available for checkout in the library?

Yes, there are currently 6 MP3 players available for a 2 day checkout.
